Meet the Team

Dr Kevin Dawes

Dr Kevin Dawes, CEO

I have been a GP in Sedgley, Dudley for more than 25 years and have been witness to numerous developments in General Practice and the NHS, but remain a passionate believer in the value of our service to patients. I remain as senior partner of a training practice, The Ridgeway Surgery.

Prior to the setting up of Future Proof Health Ltd I was a Board member of Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group with a lead role for General Practice. I have also been a member of Dudley Local Medical Committee since 1995. I am a Medico-legal Expert. I have also served on various other committees representing the interests of primary care, including the Local Education and Training Council.

Beverley Wakelam, Finance Director

I came to Crestfield surgery in January 2013 after having worked in Primary Health Care, within 2 GP practices and the Primary Care Trust both in primary care and finance, as well as Corporate and Private Companies. My first experience of working in the NHS was in 1991 when I worked for primary care services, in what was then the FHSA, I worked in registration and screening services and was involved in setting up the Dudley & Sandwell Breast screening service, GP and Lab links, the new NHS number and the postcode address file systems, all of these we take for granted now, but at that time they were all new and untested.

In my current role as practice manager I am responsible for maintaining the day to day running of the surgery, including, HR, recruitment, payroll, finance, all monthly, quarterly and annual claims and procedures, compliance with external agencies, training, ordering supplies, complaints, all general queries, appointments scheduling and organising locum cover, as well as all the general day to day business of the surgery.

Dr Gillian Love

Dr Gillian Love, Director

I am a local “Girl” having Qualified from Birmingham Medical School in 1991 and then trained in local hospitals, becoming a Partner in Halesowen Medical Practice in 1996.

I have seen my practice grow from a list size of 2500 to almost 10000 patients. This growth resulted in the development of a new building in 2002 and the gradual expansion of the practice team from a senior partner and me to its current 3 partners and 3 salaried doctors with additional advanced nurse practitioners, practice nurses and health care assistants. Due to retirement, I now hold the position of senior partner in the practice.

I have been a GP trainer for over 15 years and am delighted that several of my ex-trainees have remained in the Black Country and are partners in local practices.

I worked as a Clinical Assistant at Mary Stevens Hospice for 8 years. I felt very privileged to be able to work with the hospice’s fantastic team and was sorry to have to leave this role in July 2018 as a result of increasing primary care commitments.

In July 2019 I became the Clinical Director of Halesowen Primary Care Network( PCN) and have been working with local practices and other Dudley PCN-CDs to ensure that we make the most of the opportunities provided within the Primary care DES to improve services available to our population without burning out our colleagues and staff.

Dr Stephen Pritchard, Director

I joined the Northway Medical Centre as a partner in 1992 and have had the pleasure of working alongside many excellent GPs in Dudley over the past 28 years.  I became Lead Appraiser for our area in 2015 and continue to support my colleagues with their appraisal and revalidation queries. I joined the MCP GP steering group in 2017 to facilitate and support the creation of the first MCP in Dudley. I took up the role of PCN CD for Sedgely, Coseley and Gornal last year as I considered it a logical progression of the work being done to support General Practice in Dudley.

I was closely involved with the initial discussions around creating the organisation Future Proof Health. I believed at the time this was a good idea and think we are now in a strong position to use the organisation to help role out the PCN agenda.

FPH operate out of offices in my practice and I have a good professional and social relationship with their Managing Director Kevin Dawes

Using FPH as an umbrella company to service all six PCNs will the afford us the protection of a limited company and the benefits of working at scale.

It is my hope that the aspirations of the shareholders that originally invested in FPH might now start to be realised.

Rachel Clarke, Office Manager

I came to work for Future Proof Health in August 2016 this is my first experience of the NHS and has been an eye opener. My previous roles have included Fraud investigator for Natwest Bank, an accounts manager for HSBC & a benefits & Council Tax assessor for DMBC. I have a degree in Business & Finance with accountancy.

In my current role I organise & manage the Extended Hours Scheme for the Sedgley, Coseley & Gornal locality. I assist with the promotion & organisation of the Training Hub by attending regular meetings with HEE & the CCG.
